The wall Project

In the summer of 2002 the initial planning of the mural began. It was decided that a large mural would be created that incorporated character education and that sixth grade students would be involved in the project. Ginger Dunlap-Dietz was chosen to help us in this endeavor and to be our artist in residence. It was then decided that the theme of the project would be Respect and Responsibility. The mural will be 9 feet high and 20 feet long and will incorporate clay tiles built by students and tile mosaic. There mural will complement the memorial garden in front of our school. We would like to thank Mr. Bocciolatt, Mr.Hutson, Mr.Ciarelli, Mrs. Lafex, Mrs.Pisegna ,the Parent Council and Partners in the Arts for their support.

Students brainstormed ideas in their classrooms. A scale paper mockup goes up between the art rooms. Planning  and organizing are well underway.

Students design and plan their tiles. Every sixth grade student will create an individual tile.

Individual student tiles that represent things they respect, these tiles will make up the garden area on the mural.

Sixth grade teachers, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Sexton and Miss Strathmann create their tiles.

Students have begun working on the large figures.
